THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY. 1920

The membership of the Society has increased this Term with a consequent greater attendance at the meetings, which have been held regularly. The very practical nature of the lectures has stimulated a keener interest than would have been roused had they been confined more to the realm of theory. The majority of the lectures, which have been held fortnightly, have been given with great lucidity by Mr. Broad. The society was also very fortunate in securing last December the services of Mr. Willcocks, the well-known local photographer, who gave a most interesting lecture on "Exposure," and who will shortly give a demonstration on "Enlarging." It would, perhaps, be of interest to append a list of the meetings to date. They speak for themselves as regards veriety and interest.

The second outing of the Society took place on Monday, February 16th, the mid-term holiday, when the Forest between the Waterworks and Higham's Park Lake was visited. The attendance would have been greater had the weather in the early part of the morning been more favour able. A slight fog prevailed, lifting later under a fairly strong winter sun, and the photographers were busy until past one o'clock. The outing was quite a success, and judging from the number of prints seen shortly afterwards, one concludes that most members spent the remainder of the afternoon in the dark room.
