We are grateful to Fred Rose
for these copies of the 1933 Monoux entrance examination papers. During the
depression schools like Monoux found it increasingly difficult to enrol fee
paying pupils and in 1933 the scholarship exam was extended to all pupils whose
parents paid fees according to their income. These later became the 11 plus
examination in 1936.
The examination consisted of three papers: Arithmetic (1hour). English
Part I (30 minutes), Part II (45 minutes) General
Paper (1 hour) Click on the above to see the individual papers.
